Walking in a winter wonderland! Probably the funniest groomsmen I have ever met. Lovin' the pyramid at the church the did... took some talking into for Kellan and the pictures leading up to him getting to the top are great. I already have a problem narrowing the pictures from wedding I show on my blog and every wedding I do it gets worse. Valerie looked stunning... and her color scheme was perfect for their special day.

Ok.... I'm feeling a little disconnected. I have finally had the chance to breathe, re-group and start brain storming again. Since about last May around the time my niece Elleana was born time has flown by! She is almost one and I'm wondering where the time has gone. Last winter I sat in front of my computer looking.... researching and praying to become the business woman and artist I had worked so hard to be for 5 years to become. I'm not exactly where I want to be as of yet but I'm getting there. A photographer by the name of Shelby Leigh made a list of goals that she she wanted to accomplish a year or so ago and I have wanted to do the same. I think by posting it it will give me the kick in the butt I need to achieve them! She did 101 in 1001 days.... BUT I'm doing 50 things before I turn 28. I'm 25 now so three years!

A LITTLE UPDATE!

I've been working hard... but not on my blog! It takes a while to re-size, choose the pictures, and water mark every picture I post. I love looking at other people's blog and can't wait for them to update so I know my loyal readers probably are checking in and asking where the heck I am!

I have been really focused on my photography business since I've started. I always say it's my life and it really is. It's all I talk about... what props I need, how I want a huge studio with a specific things in it, about how cute the babies and kids I get to shoot are. I mean I always talk about what I do because I love it so much!

Back from Florida!

As many of you know we have just returned from our 6 wonderful days in Florida. Fort Lauderdale is absolutely beautiful. The weather was on the chilly side for the majority of our time there but no complaints here. It was our first get-a-way together in 9 year of being together.

At this wedding I might have had the most fun ever photographing. I have fun at a lot of weddings but this one I think "took the cake." hehe.

I knew after their engagement session that they were fun and very open to different pictures. I have about a million awesome/funny dancing pictures and as always I had a hard enough time picking pics for my blog. I might add some later when I have more time on my hands but here are a ton for now.

I just have to mention that Amy's shoes were soooo great... her and her bridesmaids dance moves (and her her bro's) stellar. They even had a photo wall with cut outs for some funny group pics. Thanks for such a memorable New Year's Eve!!

NEWBORN: Emma

Isn't she absolutely adorable!? Emma was about a week old when she came to get her pictures taken. She was so alert and awake almost the whole session. Dad had to bounce and rock her over and over to get those eyes clothed. The first picture is in absolute favorite!!

I've been shooting a lot of baby girls lately... but I have some boys coming soon.

This is little Pailyn Rose. Her grandma owns the Bird's Nest in Boyne City and made this cute birds nest for a prop. I've been wanting to do the baby on a flower picture... it took a while to make it look real but I like how it turned out.

For November the weather was wonderful for Tina and Mark's wedding day. It was pretty foggy so we couldn't see the water in the background for formals... but everything works out! Everything looked so nice and elegant inside. It was a fun day!

So I'm always talking about getting and making new props... if you've been to the studio you know I have a TON of stuff. Last summer I bought a super old children's desk. I haven't used it yet but I was some great ideas for spring. I absolutely love the the new vintage trend! I also love when little girls wear hair accessories! AND I love when people bring their own stuff too. I'm always looking for new and awesome ideas. So I just wanted to show some new headbands I made for the studio. If you look at a post of Eloise below you will see she has a purple one on.

I have not blogged my niece hardly at all! I'm with her so much and take SO many picture but the only one's to see any are people that visit my sisters house. I haven't even updated my facebook or myspace because I've been to busy. I tried to photograph her by myself in the studio yesterday and it didn't go so well. She is on the move crawling EVERYWHERE now! I have a few more cute ones but thought I would edit and put one up right now. She is a doll. :) We will try again next week when me and my sister have time.

So I was looking at a super awesome photographer's blog... Stacy Reeves. I came across this pie chart and was like... wow. YES. I have been a photographer now since late 2005. I have struggled with explaining how much work I actually do because I'm not so great with explanations. Not only does this chart sum things up but to add a little in site... it's not always fun. It's not just about making pretty pictures. My husband and I have invested a ton of money into my business and I have spent countless hours making not as much much as some people think. My hourly wage would make you laugh... I don't ONLY do it for the money. I really LOVE my job. Now the business aspect is a tough one. I'm an artist and I'm learning how to be a good business person. I just thought I would post this because it's good for other people to see. :)

Sometimes I get guys that don't really want to get their pictures taken and kind of bum around... but this past yer has been great.

This is my friend Jenny's baby. This was the first time I got to met him! I have been sick and then crazy busy since he's been born I have no idea where time has gone... I got to see him again today. He is so funny! The little noises he makes and the way he looks like his mommy soooo much! I am so happy for Jenny, Nathan, Eric and Bethany. Early January I will be taking their family pictures so keep your eye out for those. :)

I love watching babies grow up! This is Julia's 3rd session... and every time I get to photograph her she is doing something new. Her mom Regina works with my sister and Elleana and Julia are only one day apart. Recently I went to my sister's Kindergarten Christmas Program and there was a lady that was sitting behind us who told me a story that I adored. One of her girls are in Regina's class and one is my sister's... when they play with their babies they call one Elleana and one Julia. I thought that was sooo cute!!

Leigh-Anne and Jason had planned their wedding to be outside but the rain forced them to change their plans. A few weeks ago I took my sister's family pictures. Elleana LOVES to be outside so right when my sister and her husband got out of work we drove to town to go find some places to shoot. We were looking for leaves and at that point and the only place that had them left were around Boyne Mt. They have the most beautiful vines growing up buildings. Jeremy doesn't exactly like getting his picture taken... and since Amanda's maternity pictures this is the third time. He is getting more used to it...

Right when I seen her pull in the drive a face with the name rang a bell. A LONG time ago we went to youth group together. Now she doesn't live very far from me. Funny how those things happen. I am above and beyond busy.... it's going to take me a while to catch up. Not a bad problem to have. I have 3 sessions ready to be blogged and they will be up sometime this week.

I have hired a new wedding 2nd shooter/assistant Jessi Jo and she is AMAZING! Her first wedding with me was Saturday and she got so many compliments from the bride... I also love her so look for her at your wedding to come. This weekends wedding couldn't have been on a more beautiful day! It wasn't bad weather and the colors were so bright!

Sometimes after I give someone their password for their online viewing album I don't hear from them until they order... which is no fun. I'm left wondering if they liked them and I don't get that instant reaction. I would have to say that's the only negative behind this convenient little technology. I called Aliona yesterday to tell her I uploaded her pictures... we hung up. About a half hour later I got a call back. :) She wanted to tell me how much she liked them... and it made my night. A lot of photographers I read about make clients come back to the studio and choose their products on the spot. I know how busy life gets and wouldn't be able to make my mind up that fast.

Ok on to the session. I was hired by this couple to shoot their wedding maybe a month prior to their date? I'm not sure exactly but somewhere around a month. They wanted engagement pictures and I had such a full schedule that we did their shoot the weekend before their wedding. It was great because we got to know each other and it made their wedding day go so much smoother for formals shots because we knew what we wanted to achieve. Aliona is a very talented clothing designer (she made what you see them wearing) AND she made her own fabulous wedding dress which you will see soon!

I haven't posted a personal blog in a while and I think it's due. If you know me personally you know that I have the a cutie pie little niece Elleana. My sister and my brother-in-law asked me way before they were ever pregnant to watch their child... I of course accepted. Fast forward a couple years and here we are...

I'm so not a morning person! I'm used to staying up until 2-4am editing/placing orders/designing books/doing whatever I need to do for my business and having the pleasure of sleeping 8 hours. Now I'm up with the roosters! This last week my niece has started to keep my schedule... UT OH! My poor sister is up at night and we take a snooze when she gets here for a couple hours. That's this week though! We shall see what happens in the week to come.

She doesn't enjoy my computer room and so I haven't been able to work during the day for the last few weeks.... or have I been able to book day sessions (sorry everyone!) I'm sure in a couple/few more weeks she will be so used to it at my house that everything will be great.

For Michael's session I went to his house in Boyne City. He is a biker and I love that we got some great shots with his bike. I met his mom at the Boyne City Expo in the spring I attended. I have to say that expo was pretty successful for me.

These two are soooo in love and when you look at these images you can just sense it. There was never a dull moment and the number of images we have for them to preview just proves it. Fun. Elegant. Props are so fun. I love going into Boyne Falls and using the old buildings. :) I even threw in a America's Next Top Model pose in there... Molli is VERY photogenic. I am super busy right now with my business and I thought I would take some time to show you a part of my personal life. My life revolves around photography so when you talk to me I will pretty much probably bring it up... sorry :) BUT I do have a life outside my business and I spend as much time as I possibly can with my husband, family, friends..... and my spoiled dog MARTINI.

Since the day I got her I treated her like a baby and that has made her into a big time doggie diva. She will nudge you until you pet her... she goes for LOTS of car rides... she sleeps at the foot of our bed... she gets too many treats... sometimes I have to pick the red and brown chunks from her dog food because those are the only ones she feels like eating (if my mom is reading this she is rolling her eyes like every time she sees me do it)... she likes to be held like a baby on her back... and she loves to wrestle at 1pm and 3am.

My mom actually got me Martini when I was going through a rough patch just turning 19and didn't know what I wanted to do with my life. I was going to college and spending all my time on studying and was miserable. Oh yes, it sounds rough when a billion people do it and get through it but at the time for me it was terrible and caused a little bit of anxiety. I knew I wanted to do something artistic but it took me a year off to finally know that it was photography. Anyways this little girl got me through that and I will never find a better friend that will love me unconditional. SO... here is my furry friend teenie-weenie-martini.

I have lots of pictures of her... but this one is my favorite.

This is a fundraising event the raises money for Camp Quality USA. These are wonderful people gathering for a good cause. I'm glad that I got to be a small part of it by donating pictures for their advertisements.

Two weeks ago I photographed this family on the beach over in Boyne City. It was cloudy and super windy until about 20-25 minutes after we were done and gone.... then the sun came out and the wind died down a little bit. It's actually better off for me when the clouds are out because lighting is much better. I wish someone would send some sunshine and nice weather to us though! I can't stop talking about (and complaining!) the below normal temps we've been having. Back to this session... I have so different poses because is was family+couples+super cute little girl that I have a super big post this time. I've been starting to use some new techniques in my editing so hopefully you all have noticed!

I just finished some pictures I did for Boyne Thunder last Friday. I actually got hooked up with them through Rob from this photo shoot to take some pictures for the Boyne Thunder website and ads. I will explain in my next post what it's all about but I have lots of pictures to re-size for my blog.

Let me start out by saying what a beautiful day we had! I was starting to wondering when it would feel like summer?? I can't believe it's already July...

Last week I got to meet my Dec. 31st bride and groom... Amy and Rob. We had their engagement session at the studio and I had fun shooting them. I feel so lucky to meet so many people and make memories for them to have forever. It will never get old! I have had a lot of engagement/couple shoots lately :)

This weekend flew by sooo fast! My husband and I went to Boyne City for all the fun stuff. My brother-in-law's dad always plays in the park with his band so we went and hung out there. I was walking around and I heard so many times from people I hardly know and people I do know but don't talk to often "I look at your website and blog all the time." WOW. I was so excited and happy to hear that. They also said they love reading about who I'm shooting... so I'm going to try to write a little more about my sessions.

Here is my cousin Brad and his girlfriend Amy..... oh and their two labs! Gizmo and Segar. Amy called me a couple weeks ago to take their pics so they had a Christmas present for Brad's dad. We had a beautiful day (rather than the last week or so?) so we went down to the Boyne Falls pond and did a little shoot. The dogs were really excited to be down there. :) Brad on the other hand??? haha.

Last week I had a session with my sister's nieces and their cousins :) I've been photographing all of them since they were little bitty. The two older ones Allie and Amber are getting to be little posers.... so cute! I bribed them all with suckers toward the end and ended up giving them to them early. We even snuck in a pictures with their mom's this time.

I just put a down payment on a brand new fancy blog. I'm super excited to start working with the designer. I've been looking around for a while for something that more fit me and my style.... it should be up and running in the next 5 weeks.

I always say that there is a glow and beauty that I love to photograph from an expecting mom. It's so awesome that they want me to document their baby bump and I feel so honored that they choose me. This little angel was soooo good for her first photo session... I took her mom's maternity pictures a few weeks before she arrived. Mom had great ideas and brought lots of stuff for props :) I love that! Personalized things will mean so much later when you look at the pictures.

Yesterday I was a part of a Business Expo to help spark some business in our area. I think it was a great success just hearing all the positive feedback from people about the whole expo. There was 70+ booths and I was lucky enough to be one of them. The Boyne City Chamber of Commerce is just amazing to have held such an event and I want to say THANK YOU! I have already have calls and emails so I couldn't be happier. Here is my booth that my husband and I worked so hard the last couple weeks to put together...

With all the cold weather we've been getting it's nice to have a warm day. I LOVE spring.... the smells.... the beautiful tree buds... everything but the cold rain. It's not to hot/not to cold. The last few days have been great! It it just me or has winter been extra long and hard this year?? My husband and I have been working out in our yard for the first time since owning our new house. It's been nice hanging out in the sun.

I figured I would share some of my spring pictures.... The raccoon is from last spring when he was trying to get in our garbage cans. :) I had my husband open the window while I snapped away.
