A LITTLE UPDATE!

I've been working hard... but not on my blog! It takes a while to re-size, choose the pictures, and water mark every picture I post. I love looking at other people's blog and can't wait for them to update so I know my loyal readers probably are checking in and asking where the heck I am!

I have been really focused on my photography business since I've started. I always say it's my life and it really is. It's all I talk about... what props I need, how I want a huge studio with a specific things in it, about how cute the babies and kids I get to shoot are. I mean I always talk about what I do because I love it so much!

NEW PROPS

So I'm always talking about getting and making new props... if you've been to the studio you know I have a TON of stuff. Last summer I bought a super old children's desk. I haven't used it yet but I was some great ideas for spring. I absolutely love the the new vintage trend! I also love when little girls wear hair accessories! AND I love when people bring their own stuff too. I'm always looking for new and awesome ideas. So I just wanted to show some new headbands I made for the studio. If you look at a post of Eloise below you will see she has a purple one on.

So I was looking at a super awesome photographer's blog... Stacy Reeves. I came across this pie chart and was like... wow. YES. I have been a photographer now since late 2005. I have struggled with explaining how much work I actually do because I'm not so great with explanations. Not only does this chart sum things up but to add a little in site... it's not always fun. It's not just about making pretty pictures. My husband and I have invested a ton of money into my business and I have spent countless hours making not as much much as some people think. My hourly wage would make you laugh... I don't ONLY do it for the money. I really LOVE my job. Now the business aspect is a tough one. I'm an artist and I'm learning how to be a good business person. I just thought I would post this because it's good for other people to see. :)

Boyne Area Business Expo

Yesterday I was a part of a Business Expo to help spark some business in our area. I think it was a great success just hearing all the positive feedback from people about the whole expo. There was 70+ booths and I was lucky enough to be one of them. The Boyne City Chamber of Commerce is just amazing to have held such an event and I want to say THANK YOU! I have already have calls and emails so I couldn't be happier. Here is my booth that my husband and I worked so hard the last couple weeks to put together...

NEW WEBSITE!

FINALLY! I've been working so many hours to get my new website up! I absolutely must say I love the more modern look.... plus I have way more options and it's black. I just want to get some music up and I'll be really happy. I also will be using my old page for seniors! I have to start on that today so stay tuned!

Soon I will have a new shopping carts because I changed labs. It's been a long time coming and I just have to finish setting everything up with them and I will have a new link on the main page for you to order your pictures/products!

In some non-photography related talk.... I used to watch Dancing With The Stars faithfully and kinda lost interest over the seasons... BUT last night hooked me in again. They have a great cast and I have it set to record for the season :) My favs: Steve-O, Lil Kim, the girl from the bachelor, and the gymnast. If you didn't watch this weeks you should def tune in next week!

Bridal Show

So I attended a Bridal Show a couple weeks ago at Stafford's in Petoskey.

I met with sooooo many brides and had lots of fun talking about their weddings. I'm getting really excited about 2009 and the journey's I will be able to take and photograph. I was pleasantly surprised on how many grooms came with their brides. I give them props!

In the bottom picture you can probably see my mom. My mom, dad and husband helped me set up... and my husband stayed to sit with me :) He's so sweet!
